AMHERST VILLAGE DENTAL

Advanced Technology

At Amherst Village Dental, we pride ourselves on staying up-to-date on the most advanced periodontal technology available today. Our use of cutting-edge technology allows us to better prevent, diagnose, and treat periodontal problems.

Advanced Technology

CBCT Scanning

Cone beam computed tomography, or CBCT scans, are an important diagnostic tool. Unlike traditional dental x-rays, a CBCT scan gives us a 3D view of your teeth, supportive bone, and soft tissues. This can be immensely beneficial during the treatment planning for dental implants and other surgical procedures. We may also recommend a scan to help us better diagnose periodontal problems that are not initially visible to the naked eye.

Advanced Technology

Digital x-Rays With Kodak

Technology is constantly improving, allowing Dr. Ang to provide you with fast and efficient care. Digital x-rays are faster and more accurate than traditional x-rays because they allow us to fully see your teeth and jaw in just one or two images instead of multiple. You’ll spend less time in the dental chair and more time enjoying your healthy smile.

Digital x-rays are used to take images of your teeth and expose any cavities that have formed or are starting to form. This allows us to accurately determine what treatments you’ll need to restore your oral health.

This modern technology is also a safer alternative to traditional x-rays because it reduces your exposure to radiation by up to 90%.

Ultrasonic Scaler and Electric Handpieces

We use an ultrasonic scaler and other electric handpieces to perform cleanings and treat periodontal (gum) disease. An ultrasonic scaler produces microscopic bubbles that implode on the surface of your teeth. These implosions remove the plaque and tartar deposits from your teeth while killing harmful bacteria. Unlike metal handpieces, the ultrasonic scaler does not put your enamel at risk for additional damage.

Advanced Technology

Rotary Root Canal

When your tooth is severely decayed, root canal therapy is usually used to restore the tooth and its roots. Typically, treatment is performed using a hand-file, but Dr. Ang uses his technology to more effectively remove the bacteria.

This electrical machine allows for a faster and more efficient process. The powerful device has improved endodontic therapy, allowing Dr. Ang to provide a larger amount of patients with healthy smiles.

Advanced Technology

Carestream CS 3600 Intraoral Scanner

An intraoral scanner allows us to take a digital impression of your teeth and gums. We use a top-of-the-line device known as the Carestream CS 3600 intraoral scanner. This device takes hundreds of photos per second to produce a detailed, colored, and three-dimensional visualization of your mouth. Digital impressions have revolutionized the way we place dental implants. It can also give us a detailed look at minor instances of tooth decay and gum disease.

Pain Free Dentistry

In order to help our patients feel as comfortable as possible during their dental treatment, we offer several different levels of sedation.

•Minimal Sedation:  Awake but in a more relaxed state
Moderate Sedation:  Affects your motor skills and memory of the procedure
Deep Sedation:  A “twilight” state on the edge of consciousness
General Anesthesia:  Completely unconscious

The level of sedation you receive depends on the medication we use, and the severity of your anxiety. Patients with significant anxiety may need to be placed in a deeper level of sedation. Regardless of the sedation you receive, most medications are used in conjunction with a local anesthetic. A local anesthetic numbs your mouth to reduce or eliminate pain and discomfort.
